Dear Irene,
Your post is quite touching as it reveals a yearning for an early, less hectic and crazy world for your son ... I understand that yearning. Sometimes Lois and I talk about how we grew up without computers and the kinds of pressures common to our lives today.
When I was a kid, I lived for several years in Los Angeles. We had no television and computers were unheard of. I spent hours playing "cowboy and Indian" with other boys in the neighborhood. We'd go for long bike rides searching out new hills to ride down. In the summer we rode the tram to the beach to swim and surf.
It wasn't perfect but I think it was better than sitting in front of a TV or a computer playing games 24/7... :-)
